Stand Against Racism Challenge Begins

Join the YWCA in their 21-day Stand Against Racism challenge, leading up to their 2022 Stand Against Racism.

The YWCA 21 Day Challenge is designed to create dedicated time and space to build more effective social justice habits, particularly those dealing with issues of race, power, privilege, and leadership. One benefit of the Challenge is that it takes place over the course of 21 business days (about one full month), giving participants ample time and space to learn about—and reflect one—the important topics covered in the Challenge materials.

Participants are presented with challenges utilizing carefully cultivated open-source resources, such as reading an article, listening to a podcast, reflecting on personal experience, and more, each day for a period of 21 days. Participation in an activity like this helps us to discover how racial injustice and social injustice impact our community, to connect with one another, and to identify ways to dismantle racism and other forms of discrimination. This is an opportunity to dive deep into racial equity and social justice with your community.  We know that this content is heavy and can bring up powerful emotions, so we also offer opportunities for guided discussion of the content to help navigate the material.

The YWCA 21 Day Challenge is offered to the community each year in the spring. Want to bring the Challenge to your workplace, church, school, non-profit organization, or other community group? We can arrange a private 21-Day Challenge to meet your group’s needs. For organizations participating in the Challenge, we also recommend that you offer a weekly guided discussion facilitated by the YWCA. Please email ahatch@ywcamaine.org for more information and pricing.
